Tonight’s match ended with a one-goal win by the Energy but the score doesn’t tell the whole story of the match.
To end the first half Energy FC forward Wojciech Wojcik received a cross into the box from Michael Harris. Wojcik headed the ball into the back of the net to send the Energy FC to the locker room with a 1-0 lead at the break.
Two minutes into the second half Rising FC equalized the match. Then the Energy capitalized on the spacing they created with passes over defenders heads.
Energy FC defender Kyle Highland received a cross in the box at the 56th minute, which he netted a picture perfect upper 90 to give the Energy FC a 2-1 lead.
Wojcik added on to the lead with a goal off a rebound shot from Daniel Jackson in the 70th minute. This would ultimately be the game-winning goal.
Rising FC forward Eder Arreola scored a goal past diving Energy FC goalie Cody Laurendi in the 84th minute as the last goal of the match ending it 3-2 in favor of Energy FC.
Energy FC head coach Jimmy Nielsen said the match, “scored a fantastic goal to end the first half, got knocked in the face to start the second half,” and he said, “the last 30 minutes of the second half we played very good soccer, very attractive soccer, scored two fantastic goals [as well].”
The Energy FC play undefeated San Antonio FC this Saturday at 7:30 pm at home, Kyle Highland said, “we are looking forward to Saturday… this win gives us confidence and looking to take three points with a win at home this Saturday.”
The Energy improve to 4-5-1 on the season while the Rising fall to 4-5-0.
