Judgment day is rapidly closing in on the former Oklahoma star running back. Now the question is not if he will be drafted but when. When is acceptable to draft this young man with the luggage that comes in tow. Mixon was not invited to the NFL combine which shows some red flags. Many NFL teams have even said that he is not even on their boards. That does this man a great injustice. But teams like the Packers are showing strong interest. His talent is too good to pass up on. His value is all over the place making it hard to predict where he will go.
Talent-wise, he is a top 5 draft pick easily. Outside factors would leave me to believe that many teams will be able to pass up on him in the first round and pick him up for a steal in a later round. He should be gone by the middle of the second round, but wouldn’t surprise me if he fell to the third. I would be shocked if a team gambled on him in the first round. I expect Samaje Perine to go ahead of Mixon. I believe Mixon will go #48 overall to the Vikings in need of a replacement RB with the departure of Peterson (why not pick up another Okie.) Or #61 overall to the Packers since they have worked him out a couple times and really like his upside.
