The Oklahoma Sooners stole a win against LSU Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge despite their poor first half performance. LSU came out with guns a blazing behind Tim Quarterman three first half three’s. Despite the Sooners being down 10 points at half and down 14 with 15:56 left they managed to stay calm and collected and found a way to win the ball game. Freshman phenom Ben Simmons finished the game with 14 points 9 rebounds and 5 assists but it wasn’t enough as LSU loses it 77-75.
Isaiah Cousins hit the game-winning shot with three seconds left after using Buddy Hield as a decoy. The unsung hero of the game for the Sooners though was the play of Ryan Spangler, who finished the game with 16 points, 10 rebounds and had two crucial threes in the second half. Buddy Hield was also able to get his game going in the second half and finished with 32 points and 7 rebounds.
The win brings OU’s record to 18-2 and will likely retain the number one spot for the third week in a row. OU plays TCU next Tuesday in Norman. The win brings the Big 12’s record to 5-3 in the Big 12 SEC Challenge with Kansas V.S. Kentucky, and OSU V.S. Auburn later tonight.
